Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT)
Pulmonary Function Tests are a series of assessments that evaluate how effectively the lungs are functioning. These tests measure various parameters, including lung volume, capacity, airflow rate, and gas exchange efficiency.
Purpose of PFT:
  • Assess lung function in patients with respiratory issues
  • Evaluate exposure to harmful environmental factors
  • Monitor the progression of lung diseases
Both bronchoscopy and pulmonary function tests are essential tools for diagnosing and managing lung conditions, ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely care.
Bronchoscopy is a valuable procedure for examining the lungs and air passages. Performed by a pulmonologist, this minimally invasive technique involves inserting a thin tube called a bronchoscope through the nose or mouth, allowing the physician to visualize the airways and lungs for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
Indications for Bronchoscopy:
  • Infections
  • Cancers
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Lymphoma

Pulmonary Function Tests (PTF)

These are a group of tests that measure how well our lungs work. This includes tests to indicate how well we are able to breathe and how effective our lungs are able to carry oxygen to the rest of your body. Doctors use these tests in order to evaluate the patient’s lungs in the case of lung problems or exposure to certain environment which may be harmful to the lungs. These tests measure lung volume, capacity, rate of flow and gas exchange.
