ADVANCED TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT ( ATLS)

Healthway Hospital, is the only health facility in Goa and one amongst the 14 centres which conducts the prestigious ATLS course for doctors.This course is the copyright of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is run by the Committee of Trauma (COT).

There have been over 100 doctors so far who have qualified and passed the provider course from Healthway Hospital.

The course comprises of interactive discussions and hands-on training on mannequins with an examination at the end. Successful candidates are conferred an ATLS Provider Certificate, that is valid worldwide and has to be renewed every four years. Currently the course is in its 10th edition.

ATLS protocols are considered the gold standard in the management of trauma all over the world. So far, the course has been adopted in over 60 countries and more than 1 million doctors have been trained using the ATLS protocols and methodology. This course trains doctors (MBBS & BDS) in the management of injured patients in the critical initial period ( The Golden Hour ) and helps save lives and prevents disabilities.

NNF is the apex body of Neonatologists, Pediatricians, Obstetricians ,Nurses and other allied professionals. National Neonatology Forum of India under the President Action Plan 2021, has launched an academic initiative “Neo – CODE – Centre of Digital Education program”.. The aim is to educate and stimulate neonatal providers with upto date knowledge and clinical practices in the field of Neonatology. The target audience is doctors, fellows and nurses involved in neonatal care. National Neonatology Forum of India’s Newborn Care Accreditation Program with support of UNICEF India has granted Healthway hospital a Level II-B accreditation .

 

Healthway hospital is committed to frequently conducting certificate training programs for medical and para medical professionals to manage cardiac emergencies. These are namely the BLS and ACLS.

These are conducted by AHA, ‘American Heart Institute’ certified professionals. The course comprises of interactive discussions and hands-on training on mannequins. This is followed by an examination at the end of the session. Based on the performance, the successful candidates are conferred  BLS or ACLS Certification, which is recognised internationally.

The BLS course teaches both single-rescuer and teams, basic life support skills for application in both prehospital or external environments and in hospitals, where a lot of emphasis lies on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.

The ACLS course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention in cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS)
